The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on March 27, 2026, issued TV Rating Policy 2026- Guidelines for Regulation of Television Ratings.
The following has been stated:-
•The Government of India has introduced the revised "TV Rating Policy 2026 – Guidelines for Regulation of Television Ratings" to establish a more robust, transparent, and accountable framework for measuring television viewership in the country.
•This updated policy supersedes the previous guidelines issued in 2014, taking into heavy consideration the significantly changing media landscape and the critical need for a reliable audience measurement structure.
•Coming into immediate effect from its date of release, the guidelines streamline operational protocols and consolidate regulatory oversight to eliminate bureaucratic friction for media stakeholders.
•The comprehensive structural overhaul strengthens compliance measures, data integrity, and methodologies used by rating agencies to reflect true market dynamics.
•Ultimately, this centralized regulatory mechanism enhances transparency and fairness, directly benefiting broadcasters, advertisers, and the television viewing public alike.
