The Department of Public Health, Govt. of Goa on May 29, 2026, issued the Goa (Rules for admission to the Post-Graduate Degree Courses of the Goa University at the Goa Medical College) Rules, 2026.
The following has been stated:
• The Rules replace the 2024 rules and govern admissions to MD/MS courses at Goa Medical College. Admissions will be conducted through NEET-PG/NExT-based common counselling by the designated State Counselling Authority (DTE Goa) in accordance with National Medical Commission (NMC) and Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) guidelines. State quota admissions are based on merit, preferences exercised by candidates, and reservation policies. The reservation structure provides 27% for OBC, 12% for ST, 10% for EWS, 5% for PwD, and 2% for SC candidates, with separate merit lists maintained for reserved categories.
• The rules give preference in the state merit list to candidates who studied and completed an internship at Goa Medical College, followed by other eligible categories, while Goan natives are given preference within certain groups. Candidates shall pay an application fee of ₹3,000 and submit course choices, which are final for a particular counselling round.
• The MD/MS course duration remains three years, and students admitted in 2025-26 are required to pay an admission fee of ₹2,000, a tuition fee of ₹64,324 per term (with a 5% annual increase), and refundable library and hostel deposits of ₹2,000 each.
• The rules also prohibit change of specialty after admission, except where a state quota candidate later secures an All India Quota seat. Fee refund provisions have also been specified, with admission fees and a portion of tuition fees deductible upon resignation or cancellation of seats.
