The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on June 03, 2026, issued a notification regarding the formation of a new district in the State of Assam – Assignment of Lead Bank Responsibility.
The following has been stated:-
•The Government of Assam has constituted a new district, Bajali, through notifications issued in October 2023 and October 2024.
•The Lead Bank responsibility for the newly created district has been assigned to Canara Bank.
•A new District Working Code, 01O (Numeral Zero, Numeral One, and Alphabet O), has been allotted to Bajali district.
•There is no change in the Lead Bank arrangements for any other district in Assam.
