The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on June 03, 2026, notified regarding the alignment of Schedule-ll (Export Policy) of ITC (HS), 2022, consequent to amendments introduced under the Finance Act, 2026.
The following has been stated:
• The amendment is largely a technical exercise involving the deletion of old HS codes and the introduction of new, more detailed product-specific codes for a wide range of goods, including fruits and nuts, botanical extracts, beverages, chemicals, pharmaceutical intermediates, leather products, steel pipes, air-conditioner parts, filtration equipment, battery components, telecommunications equipment parts, and transport containers. While the tariff codes have been restructured, the existing export policy status of most products remains unchanged.
• The notification also continues existing policy conditions for sensitive items such as zirconium ores and concentrates, which can be exported only through Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL), and certain precursor chemicals and narcotic-related substances such as Phenylacetic Acid, Anthranilic Acid, Ephedrine, Pseudoephedrine, Norephedrine and Lysergic Acid, whose export remains subject to obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Narcotics Commissioner, Gwalior.
• Additionally, rayon-grade wood pulp and other dissolving-grade chemical wood pulp continue to remain in the Prohibited category.
• Comments/Suggestions are invited till June 10, 2026.
