Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Coal on June 05, 2026, issued a notice inviting comments/suggestions on the Draft Request for Proposal (RFP) under the Scheme for Promotion of Surface Coal/Lignite Gasification Projects.

The following has been stated:-

•The Draft Request for Proposal (RFP) is issued by the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, under a flagship scheme with a total financial outlay of ₹37,500 crore. 

•The primary objective of the initiative is to accelerate and promote the adoption of surface coal and lignite gasification projects across the country. 

•Eligible public, private, or consortium applicants can secure a financial incentive capped at 20% of the total cost incurred on new plant and machinery. Project proposals will be evaluated using a competitive, 100-point scoring framework based on criteria like viability amount, plant capacity, technology tie-ups, and financial strength. 

•Interested stakeholders are formally invited to submit their official comments and suggestions via email within 7 days of the notice publication. 

•Ultimately, selected developers must incorporate a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to execute the formal project agreement and receive milestone-based disbursements.
