Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Meghalaya on June 02, 2026, issued a public advisory against Panic Buying of Fuel and LPG.

The following has been stated:

• The Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has clarified that reports circulating on social media about shortages of petrol, diesel, and LPG, as well as alleged price increases, are false and misleading. The District Administration has stated that fuel and LPG supplies in the district are being closely monitored, and all necessary measures are being taken to ensure their uninterrupted availability and distribution.

• The public has been advised not to believe or share unverified information and to avoid panic buying or hoarding of fuel and LPG. Citizens are urged to rely only on official government communications for accurate updates. 

• The Administration has also warned that strict action will be taken against individuals spreading rumours, fake news or misleading information that could create unnecessary public panic.
