The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on June 05, 2026, issued a notification instructing all licensed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to immediately block access to 309 newly identified rogue websites.
The following has been stated:-
•The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued an official directive instructing all licensed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to immediately block access to 309 newly identified rogue websites.
•This administrative action stems from a dynamic injunction suit initiated by the plaintiff, JioStar India Private Limited, to protect its exclusive broadcast reproduction rights and copyrighted entertainment content across its TV channels and the JioHotstar platform.
•Acting on consecutive compliance directions and dynamic impleadment orders passed by the Delhi High Court between August 2025 and May 2026, the specific domains have been impleaded as additional Defendants (ranging from Nos. 1947 to 2262).
•To enforce complete digital compliance, formal notifications detailing the domain lists have also been forwarded to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the plaintiff's legal counsel for immediate execution and monitoring.
