The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on June 06, 2026, notified regarding the CAQM Reviews NCR Air Pollution Enforcement Actions in the 132nd Enforcement Task Force Meeting.
The following has been stated:
• The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) reviewed enforcement activities across the National Capital Region (NCR) during its 132nd Enforcement Task Force (ETF) meeting held on 5 June 2026. Between 11 and 29 May 2026, CAQM Flying Squads conducted 245 inspections covering construction and demolition (C&D) sites, industrial units, and diesel generator (DG) sets, identifying 87 violations. Based on these findings, authorities proposed the closure of 11 units/projects, the sealing of 33 DG sets, the issuance of 19 compliance directions, and environmental compensation in 13 cases.
• The Task Force noted that enforcement actions from the previous review had been completed, with 18 resumption orders issued after compliance verification. It also expressed concern over repeated violations related to road dust management, issuing notices to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) and a Show Cause Notice to the Municipal Corporation, Ghaziabad, for inadequate dust mitigation measures.
• CAQM reiterated the need for timely inspection reporting, strict compliance verification, adherence to norms for industrial emissions, DG sets, and C&D activities, and stronger enforcement against violators. As of 5 June 2026, Flying Squads had inspected 27,378 entities, resulting in 1,788 closure directions and 1,401 resumption orders after compliance verification, reflecting the Commission’s continued focus on reducing air pollution across NCR.
