Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Andhra Pradesh on June 08, 2026, issued amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Private Higher Educational Institutions (Establishment, Recognition, Administration and Control of Institutions of Higher Education) Rules, 2021.

The following has been stated:-

•The 2026 amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Private Higher Educational Institutions Rules define geographical classifications like rural, urban, and scheduled areas. 

•They set a 15-lakh corpus fund for college establishment and permit institutions to operate in leased buildings, equating leases over 30 years to owned premises. 

•Colleges must shift from rented to owned buildings within their locality upon approval, while a specific fee structure based on location is established for new program approvals. 

•Renewal of provisional permission moves to an annual basis, introducing a digital Risk-Based Assessment Framework to identify institutions needing priority physical inspections. 

•Defunct colleges cannot restore operations after six consecutive years, and all service applications, communications, and fee payments must now be processed through an online portal. 

•Finally, the rules mandate public website disclosures, allow credit-earning skill certification programs, and impose a 10-lakh penalty alongside criminal charges for providing misleading information.
