The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on May 27, 2026, issued the date of establishment and withdrawal of certain Indian Standards (IS).
The following IS have been established on May 26, 2026, namely: -
• IS 4289 (Part 1): 2026 Flexible Cables for Lifts and Other Flexible Connections — Specification Part 1 Elastomer Insulated Cables (Second Revision)
• IS 16805: 2026 / IEC 62619: 2022 – Secondary Cells and Batteries Containing Alkaline or Other Non-Acid Electrolytes — Safety Requirements for Secondary Lithium Cells and Batteries, for Use in Industrial Applications (First Revision)
• IS 19831: 2026 / ISO/PAS 20708: 2023 – Recreational Diving Services — Requirements for Artificial Open Water Sites
• IS 16893 (Part 1): 2026 / IEC 62660-1: 2018 – Secondary Lithium-Ion Cells for the Propulsion of Electric Road Vehicles, Part 1: Performance Testing (First Revision)
The following IS has been withdrawn on November 26, 2026, namely: -
• IS 4289 (Part I): 1984 – Specification for Flexible Cables for Lifts and Other Flexible Connections, Part 1 Elastomer Insulated Cables (First Revision)
• IS 16805: 2018 / IEC 62619: 2017 – Secondary Cells and Batteries Containing Alkaline or Other Non-Acid Electrolytes — Safety Requirements for Secondary Lithium Cells and Batteries, for Use in Industrial Applications
• IS 16893 (Part 1): 2018 / IEC 62660-1: 2010 – Secondary Lithium-Ion Cells for the Propulsion of Electric Road Vehicles, Part 1: Performance Testing
