The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on June 11, 2026, notified regarding the New Technical Standards like Solar Photovoltaic Power Supply for Telecom Equipment.
The following has been stated:
• It has notified four new technical standards under the Telecommunications Act, 2023, and the Telecommunications (Framework to Notify Standards, Conformity Assessment and Certification) Rules, 2025. The notified standards include test guides for Solar Photovoltaic Power Supply for Telecom Equipment (TEC 66091:2026), Outdoor Weatherproof Racks for Telecom Equipment (TEC 66171:2026), Electronic Locator Systems (TEC 73071:2026), and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) Systems (TEC 66141:2026).
• These standards will come into effect from the date of publication of the notification and are intended to establish uniform testing, conformity assessment, and certification requirements for the specified telecom equipment and infrastructure.
