Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) on June 11, 2026, notified regarding the 50% Ceiling Price Increase for Carboplatin and Cisplatin Cancer Medicines.

The following has been stated:

• It has approved a one-time 50% upward revision in the ceiling prices of the essential oncology medicines Carboplatin Injection 10 mg/ml and Cisplatin Injection 1 mg/ml. The decision follows representations citing sharp increases in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) costs, higher production expenses, and concerns regarding the commercial viability of manufacturing these medicines.

• NPPA noted reports of shortages and supply disruptions of Carboplatin and Cisplatin formulations, which are widely used in the treatment of various cancers. The Authority observed that rising raw material prices had adversely affected the sustainability of production and that any interruption in supply could impact patient treatment and potentially force patients to switch to more expensive alternatives.

• Based on recommendations of the Committee examining cases under Paragraph 19, and guidance previously issued by the Committee on Affordable Medicines and Health Products (CAMHP), NPPA approved the revised ceiling prices of ₹90.74 per ml for Carboplatin Injection 10 mg/ml and ₹10.89 per ml for Cisplatin Injection 1 mg/ml. The Authority also indicated that, considering continued volatility in raw material prices, the revised ceiling prices will be reviewed after six months or earlier if circumstances warrant.

• The notification supersedes the earlier ceiling prices notified on March 25, 2026.
