The Government of Kerala on June 12, 2026, issued an advisory regarding Nipah Virus prevention.
The following has been stated:-
•April to September has been designated as the high-alert period for Nipah virus.
•People are advised not to disturb bat habitats or consume fruits partially eaten by bats or other animals, and to wash fruits thoroughly before consumption.
•Wearing a mask during fever and while visiting hospitals is recommended.
•Individuals should maintain hand hygiene after handling pets and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as fever, dizziness, severe headache, slurred speech, or breathing difficulties appear.
•Early detection and preventive measures are essential to reduce the risk of infection.
