The Government of Rajasthan, on June 09, 2026, issued a circular regarding mandatory Registration and Inspection Enforcement under the Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996.
The following has been stated:-
•The Labour Department of Rajasthan issued a circular regarding mandatory establishment registrations under the Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996.
•Employers must register their construction establishments within 60 days, or they will face punitive actions under Section 50 of the Act.
•The department noted a massive gap between the high number of approved/ongoing construction projects and the low number of actual registrations.
•This low registration rate has been viewed with high severity by the Accountant General's Audit Team and the Accounts Committee.
•An internal review revealed that Labour Inspectors have failed to conduct proper and adequate inspections across the state.
•Labour Inspectors are now strictly directed to accelerate inspections and maximize registrations for sites with 10 or more workers, including RERA-registered ones.
•Legal and punitive actions must be initiated immediately against any employers who refuse or fail to register their establishments.
•To ensure strict compliance, inspectors must submit progress reports fortnightly to the official departmental email address.
