The Government of Madhya Pradesh on June 09, 2026, issued the Draft Madhya Pradesh Spirit Maturation Rules, 2026.
The following has been stated:-
•It defines key terms including maturation, matured spirit (aged for at least one year), wooden casks, and natural evaporation loss (Angel’s Share).
•Eligible D-1 or F.L.-9 licensees must establish a secure "Maturation Bonded Warehouse" within their premises meeting specific fire and safety standards.
•Permitted spirits for maturation include Malt Spirit, Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA), Rectified Spirit, and other approved agriculture-based spirits.
•A duty-free scientific wastage allowance is granted for natural evaporation loss, capped at a maximum of 0.5% per month.
•Essential processing activities like dilution, flavoring, colouring, blending, or bottling are strictly prohibited inside the maturation warehouse.
•Licensees must submit a security deposit of ₹5,00,000, maintain daily digital records, and are liable to a ₹2,00,000 penalty for rule violations.
