Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on June 03, 2026, issued the Aadhaar-Based Identification for Availing Financial Assistance.

The following has been stated namely: -

• Individuals receiving financial assistance under the Renewable Energy Research and Technology Development Programme (such as Senior Research Fellows, Junior Research Fellows, and Research Associates) must authenticate or provide proof of possession of an Aadhaar number to receive benefits.

• Beneficiaries who do not yet have an Aadhaar number must apply for Aadhaar enrolment. Until Aadhaar is issued, they can receive benefits by submitting the Aadhaar enrolment acknowledgment (EID) along with a valid identity document such as a voter ID, passport, driving licence, ration card, disability certificate, etc.

• The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) must facilitate Aadhaar enrolment and updates by coordinating with registrars, setting up enrolment centres, or providing enrolment services directly.

• If biometric authentication (fingerprint, iris, or facial recognition) fails, alternative methods such as OTP authentication, Aadhaar QR code verification, or Aadhaar Paperless Offline e-KYC verification can be used to establish identity.

• The Ministry must follow the Government's exception-handling mechanism to ensure that genuine beneficiaries are not deprived of assistance due to Aadhaar-related issues.

This shall come into force on June 03, 2026.
