MoP amended an older notification related to the energy consumption standards for star labelled self-ballasted LED lamps

Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Power (MoP) on June 10, 2026, issued a notification to amend to notification no.  S.O. 4097 (E), dated December 27, 2017 related to the energy consumption standards for star labelled self-ballasted LED lamps.

The following amendments have been stated:

In the said notification – 

(A) In paragraph 1, the following clause shall be substituted, namely: - 

1. Every self-ballasted LED lamp having a rated power from 3 watts to 60 watts for general lighting services that works on above 50 V ac up to and including 250 V ac at 50 Hz and a dc voltage up to 1000 V being manufactured, commercially purchased or sold in India shall- 

(i) meet all the performance requirements as specified in Indian Standard 16102 (part 2) with all amendments; 

(ii) have Bureau of Indian Standards registration for Self-Ballasted LED Lamps for general lighting services as per IS 16102 (part 1). 

(B) in paragraph 3, in sub-paragraph (3) (i) in table 3.2 for the words, figures and letters “the 30th June, 2026”, the words, figures and letters “the 31st December, 2026” shall be substituted. 

(C) In paragraph 4, the following clause shall be substituted, namely: - 

Testing and tolerance. - (1) For the purpose of determining the star level of a self-ballasted LED lamp, the test standards specified in Table 4.1, as per Indian Standard 16102 (part 2), with all amendments, shall be used, the same is provided in the table.
