The Government of Himachal Pradesh on June 06, 2026, issued the Draft Himachal Pradesh Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Rules, 2026 to amend the Himachal Pradesh Motor Vehicle Rules, 1999.
The following has been stated:-
•The amendment substitutes Rule 67 of the Himachal Pradesh Motor Vehicles Rules, 1999, and prescribes application fees for the grant, renewal, countersignature, and temporary permits for various categories of transport vehicles, including motor cabs, buses, goods vehicles, stage carriages, and special permits.
•The prescribed fees range from ₹50 to ₹1,500 depending on the vehicle type and permit category. The notified fee rates shall automatically increase by 10% every two years, rounded off to the nearest multiple of ten.
•No fee is payable for permits issued to transport vehicles owned by foreign embassies in India, and Regional Transport Authorities must issue a separate receipt in Form HP XXXIV RPF for every fee received.
