Commercial ComplianceThe Bureau of Indian Standards, on June 3, 2026, notified the establishment of three revised Indian Standards under Rule 15(1) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018. The newly notified standards are IS 75:2026 (Linseed/Flaxseed Oil, Raw and Refined — Specification), IS 101 (Part 5/Sec 1):2026 (Methods of Sampling and Test for Paints, Varnishes and Related Products – Hardness Tests), and IS 887:2026 (Animal Tallow — Specification). These sandards were established with effect from June 2, 2026.

The revised standards replace earlier versions and incorporate updated technical specifications and testing requirements. Specifically, IS 75:2026 supersedes IS 75:1973, IS 101 (Part 5/Sec 1):2026 replaces IS 101 (Part 5/Sec 1):1988, and IS 887:2026 supersedes IS 887:1977. The revisions aim to align product specifications and testing methodologies with current industry practices and quality requirements.

The previous versions of these standards will continue to remain in force concurrently for a transition period of six months and will be formally withdrawn on December 2, 2026. This transition period provides manufacturers, testing laboratories, and other stakeholders sufficient time to adopt and comply with the revised standards.
