The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), on June 11, 2026, notified that IS 17899 T: 2024 – “Assessment of Biodegradability of Plastics in Varied Conditions (Revised)” shall lapse with effect from June 13, 2026. The notification has been issued under Sub-rule (5) of Rule 27 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018.
The lapse of the provisional standard is part of BIS’s process for review and replacement of standards, coinciding with the establishment of newer standards relating to the assessment of biodegradability of plastics.
Accordingly, IS 17899 T: 2024 will cease to be in force from June 13, 2026.
