The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) on June 09, 2026, notified the Marine Products Export Development Authority (Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Marine Products Export Development Authority Rules, 1972.
The following has been stated:-
•The amendment to the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) Rules, 1972 comprehensively revises the registration framework for fishing vessels, processing plants, storage facilities, conveyances, peeling sheds, handling centres, ice plants, exporters, and dealers.
•It introduces updated application forms, detailed registration and renewal fee structures, and online registration procedures.
•The amendment also streamlines provisions relating to transfer of ownership, changes in registered entities, dealer registration, cancellation of registrations for non-compliance, and mandates maintenance of online records of all registered entities.
•Additionally, new forms have been introduced, including a voluntary registration scheme for independent/common ice plants with prescribed infrastructure and operational details.
They shall come into force on June 16, 2026.
