The Ministry of Power (MoP) on June 10, 2026, issued Repeal of Standards and Labelling Programme for Tubular Fluorescent Lamps.
The Central Government, under the powers of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, has repealed the earlier notification dated March 9, 2018, which pertained to the Standards and Labelling Program for Tubular Fluorescent Lamps. This repeal has been made in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
The repeal will come into effect from July 1, 2026, thereby discontinuing the applicability of the earlier standards and labelling requirements for such lamps going forward.
However, the notification clarifies that any actions taken or not taken under the repealed notification prior to its repeal will remain valid and be deemed to have been carried out under the provisions of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.
