The Government of Tamil Nadu on June 05, 2026, notified the Tamil Nadu Schools (Regulation of Collection of Fee) Amendment Act, 2026, further to amend the Tamil Nadu Schools (Regulation of Collection of Fee) Act, 2009.
The following has been stated:-
•The Tamil Nadu Government has enacted two significant amendments through Acts No. 8 and 9 of 2026.
•The Tamil Nadu Schools (Regulation of Collection of Fee) Amendment Act, 2026 revises the constitution of the School Fee Determination Committee, introduces a parent representative, extends the period for filing objections from 15 to 30 days, and makes the fee fixed by the committee valid for three academic years.
•It also mandates private schools to apply for fee revision before the expiry of the approved fee period.
•Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 2026 extends the tenure of Special Officers administering certain panchayats from January 05, 2026 to July 05, 2026 with retrospective effect from January 06, 2026.
•The Act further validates all actions taken by these Special Officers during the intervening period, ensuring continuity in local governance.
It shall come into force on June 05, 2026.
