The Government of Meghalaya on June 08, 2026, notified the One Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme for waiver of taxes and penalties relating to Motor Vehicle Tax, Passenger and Goods Tax, and Fitness fees, 2026.
The following has been stated:-
•The Government of Meghalaya introduced a temporary One Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme to clear accumulated unpaid taxes and liabilities for commercial vehicles.
•It addresses disproportionately high penalties that have grown over multiple years, helping owners clear outstanding vehicle documentation.
•The scheme offers a massive 80% waiver on total outstanding Motor Vehicle Tax, Goods Tax, and Passenger Tax dues.
•It also provides a 90% waiver on accumulated penalties related to the delayed renewal of vehicle Fitness Certificates.
•This relief initiative is strictly a time-bound window that remains valid for full and final settlements until August 31, 2026.
