The Government of Himachal Pradesh on May 07, 2026, notified the Himachal Pradesh Municipality (Grant of Trade License for Trade Activities, Use of Premises and Storage of Articles in a Premises) Byelaws 2024.
The following has been stated:-
•The byelaws regulate the grant of trade licenses for businesses, storage activities, and commercial premises within municipal limits.
•They prescribe procedures for obtaining, renewing, transferring, modifying, and closing trade licenses, along with applicable fees based on business type, scale, and location.
•Licenses may be issued for periods ranging from 1 to 15 years, while temporary licenses are available for fairs and events.
•The framework also lays down eligibility conditions, inspection requirements, and compliance obligations for license holders.
•Penalties are prescribed for violations, false declarations, and unauthorized trade activities.
•Additionally, trade license services are linked to compliance with municipal dues and other civic services to ensure effective regulation and revenue collection.
These Bye Laws shall come into force from May 07, 2026.
