The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on June 17, 2026, issued directions to the Nationwide Awareness Drive on Code on Social Security, 2020.
The following has been stated:
• It has instructed all Regional Offices, Sub-Regional Offices, Branch Offices, and field units to undertake extensive awareness and outreach activities regarding the implementation of the Code on Social Security, 2020. The initiative aims to educate employers, employees, beneficiaries, trade associations, labour organizations, and the general public about the provisions, benefits, and compliance requirements under the new social security framework.
• Field offices have been directed to organize awareness programmes, workshops, stakeholder meetings, seminars, media campaigns, and social media outreach to ensure widespread dissemination of information. Special emphasis has been placed on communicating the expanded social security coverage, Aadhaar-based identification requirements, registration procedures, and benefits available under the Code. ESIC has also asked its offices to coordinate with employers’ associations, industry bodies, labour departments, and other stakeholders to maximize outreach and facilitate smooth implementation.
• The circular further requires field offices to actively monitor the effectiveness of awareness activities, gather feedback from stakeholders, and submit periodic reports on outreach efforts. The objective is to improve compliance, enhance beneficiary awareness, and ensure the successful implementation of the Code on Social Security, 2020, nationwide.
