Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) on June 15, 2026, issued a notification regarding the prohibition of the fixed dose combination of Cefadroxyl and Probenecid.

The following has been stated:-

•The Central Government has banned the manufacture, sale, and distribution of the fixed dose combination of Cefadroxyl + Probenecid for human use with immediate effect under Section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. 

•Expert committees and the Drugs Technical Advisory Board found no adequate pharmacokinetic evidence or therapeutic justification for combining the two drugs. 

•The combination was considered irrational, and safer alternatives were found to be available. 

•The prohibition has been imposed in the larger public interest to safeguard public health.
