The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on June 15, 2026, notified regarding the revised Certification Fees for Existing Standards and notified the New Licence Fee Structure for Additional Indian Standards.
The following has been stated:
• The BIS has amended its notification dated August 05, 2021, under the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018, revising certification and marking fee structures for several existing Indian Standards and introducing fee schedules for a large number of newly notified standards. The amendment updates licence fees, minimum marking fees, and unit rates applicable to both large-scale enterprises and MSMEs under Scheme-I of Schedule-II.
• Key revisions have been made for standards, including IS 2028, IS 2029, IS 2997, IS 3650, IS 4003, IS 4123, IS 4508, IS 4509, IS 6149, IS 9202, and IS 302 (Part 1):2024/IEC 60335-1:2020, with updated certification charges and marking fee rates. In particular, the fee structure for household and similar electrical appliances covered under IS 302 has been rationalized by prescribing separate charges for the first appliance and subsequent appliances under the same licence.
• The notification also inserts 43 new serial numbers (1760–1802) covering a wide range of products and sectors, including chemicals, industrial materials, safety equipment, electrical tools, construction products, breathing apparatus, magnetic materials, engineering products, and consumer goods. For each newly included standard, BIS has specified the unit of production, annual licence fee applicable to large enterprises and MSMEs, minimum marking fee, and unit marking fee rates.
• The effective dates for these standards range from January 21, 2026, to May 21, 2026.
