Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Ministry of Finance (MoF) on June 19, 2026, issued notification regarding Continuation of Anti-Dumping Duty on PET Resin Imports from China (Sunset Review Outcome).

The Government initiated a sunset review on September 23, 2025, regarding the continuation of anti-dumping duty on imports of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) resin (with intrinsic viscosity of 0.72 dl/g or higher) originating in or exported from China. This review was conducted under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 and the relevant Anti-dumping Rules, in relation to the existing duty imposed vide Notification No. 18/2021-Customs (ADD) dated March 27, 2021.

Based on the final findings issued on March 20, 2026, the designated authority concluded that dumping margins and injury margins remain positive and significant. Imports from China have increased substantially despite existing duties, continue to undercut domestic prices, and are likely to further suppress prices and harm the domestic industry if duties are removed.

Accordingly, the Central Government has decided to continue the imposition of anti-dumping duty on the subject goods. The duty has been fixed at USD 200.66 per metric tonne on imports of PET resin (excluding recycled PET), whether directly imported from China or routed through other countries.

This new notification supersedes the earlier 2021 notification and will remain in force for a period of five years from the date of publication, unless revoked or amended earlier. The duty will be payable in Indian currency based on the applicable exchange rate notified under the Customs Act, 1962.
