The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on June 15, 2026, notified regarding the Prohibition of Fixed Dose Combination of Aloe Vera + Jojoba Oil + Wheat Germ Oil + Tea Tree Oil.
The Central Government identified that the fixed dose combination (FDC) of Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, and Tea Tree Oil may pose risks to human health, particularly when safer alternatives are available. The combination was referred to an Expert Committee in 2021, which concluded that there is no scientific or therapeutic justification for this formulation and classified it as irrational.
The Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) reviewed the findings and directed its Sub-Committee to conduct a detailed evaluation of such irrational FDCs. The Sub-Committee provided stakeholders an opportunity to submit supporting data. After comprehensive review, it submitted its report on December 28, 2024, stating that the combination lacks therapeutic value and should be prohibited in the interest of public health.
The DTAB accepted the Sub-Committee’s recommendation, agreeing that continued use of this combination is not justified. Based on these expert recommendations, the Government determined that regulatory intervention is necessary.
Accordingly, under Section 26A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, the Central Government has prohibited the manufacture, sale, and distribution of the fixed dose combination of Aloe Vera + Jojoba Oil + Wheat Germ Oil + Tea Tree Oil for human use in India with immediate effect.
