The Government of Himachal Pradesh on June 12, 2026, issued notification regarding the EWS Seats in Pharmacy Institutions.
The Governor of Himachal Pradesh has approved the introduction of 10% seats for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category in Pharmacy Colleges and Polytechnics (Diploma in Pharmacy). These seats will be created over and above the approved intake of the institutions and will be treated as supernumerary seats, effective immediately in public interest.
The EWS seats will be filled only by eligible candidates certified by the competent authority, and institutions will not have the authority to determine eligibility. In case these seats remain vacant, they will not be converted or filled by candidates from any other category.
As per the Pharmacy Council of India’s circular dated March 20, 2026, EWS seats are to be kept separate from the regular sanctioned intake and are not included in the reservation roster. Accordingly, the existing 200-point reservation roster will continue to apply only to the original intake meant for other categories.
Admission Committees and Registration Authorities have been directed to ensure strict scrutiny and verification of all admissions, including those under the EWS category, to maintain transparency and compliance.
