The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), on June 20, 2026, notified the commencement of provisions of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 relating to the Inland Waterways Authority of India Act, 1985.
Through the notification, the Central Government appointed June 30, 2026, as the date on which the amendments specified against Serial Number 49 of the Schedule to the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026, concerning the Inland Waterways Authority of India Act, 1985, shall come into force.
Accordingly, the amendments introduced under the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 in relation to the Inland Waterways Authority of India Act, 1985 will become effective from June 30, 2026.
