The Ministry of Railways (MoR), on June 19, 2026, notified the commencement of certain provisions of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 relating to the Calcutta Metro Railway (Operation and Maintenance) Temporary Provisions Act, 1985 and the Railways Act, 1989.
Through the notification, the Central Government appointed the date of publication of the notification (June 19, 2026) as the date on which the amendments specified against Serial Numbers 47 and 52 of the Schedule to the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026, shall come into force.
Accordingly, the amendments introduced under the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026, concerning the Calcutta Metro Railway (Operation and Maintenance) Temporary Provisions Act, 1985 and the Railways Act, 1989, became effective from June 19, 2026.
