On June 19, 2026, the National Commission for Women (NCW) issued a comprehensive advisory to all States and Union Territories to strengthen implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2013 (POSH Act) and ensure safe, dignified, and inclusive workplaces for women across all sectors.

The advisory has been circulated to senior administrative and police authorities, as well as district-level officials, to ensure effective enforcement and accountability at all levels.

Key measures recommended include:

Establishment of state-level monitoring cells and compliance dashboards

Introduction of mandatory annual POSH audits for organizations with 10+ employees

Appointment of District Officers and Nodal Officers for local implementation and grievance redressal

Mandatory constitution and proper functioning of Internal Committees (ICs) and strengthening of Local Committees for the unorganized sector

Ensuring transparency, public disclosure, and timely reporting

Promotion of SHe-Box platform for complaint registration and tracking

Conducting training, awareness programs, and capacity building for employees and committee members

Ensuring protection against retaliation for complainants and witnesses

Special focus on educational, healthcare, and unorganized sectors

The advisory emphasizes a zero-tolerance approach to sexual harassment, aiming to move beyond mere compliance and foster a culture of safety, dignity, and gender sensitivity in workplaces across India.
