The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on June 23, 2026, issued circular regarding the Digital representation of penalty review requests – New category introduced.
The NCL Clearing Limited (NCL) has enhanced its digital framework for handling penalty review requests by extending the facility to include “Margin Violation” penalties. Members can now submit such review requests through the member portal, in addition to the categories already covered under earlier circulars. This move is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and ease of processing.
Clearing members are required to submit penalty review requests within 7 working days from the date the penalty is made available. In cases where there is a delay, members must provide a valid justification while submitting the request. Such delayed submissions will be evaluated by the Member Committee based on the merits of the justification provided.
Further, if members wish to appeal against the decision of the Member Committee, they must do so within 45 calendar days from the date of communication of the decision by NCL. Any delay in filing an appeal must also be supported with proper reasons and will be considered by the Appeal Panel in accordance with applicable provisions.
Overall, the circular reinforces timely compliance, structured digital processes, and defined timelines for review and appeal mechanisms, ensuring a more streamlined and accountable penalty management system.
