The Ministry of Culture (MoC), on June 22, 2026, notified the commencement of provisions of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 relating to the Delivery of Books and Newspapers (Public Libraries) Act, 1954.
Through the notification, the Central Government appointed June 22, 2026, as the date on which the amendments specified against Serial Number 19 of the Schedule to the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026, and the corresponding provisions relating to the Delivery of Books and Newspapers (Public Libraries) Act, 1954 shall come into force.
Accordingly, the amendments introduced under the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 concerning the Delivery of Books and Newspapers (Public Libraries) Act, 1954 became effective from June 22, 2026.
