Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) on June 23, 2026, issued the National Food Security (Amendment) Bill, 2026, to further amend the National Food Security Act, 2013.

The following has been stated namely: -

• Section 3 which states “Right to receive foodgrains at subsidised prices by persons belonging to eligible households under Targeted Public Distribution System.” the first proviso shall be substituted with the following proviso, namely: -

“Provided that every person belonging to households covered under Antyodaya Anna Yojana shall, to such extent as may be specified by the Central Government for each State in the said scheme, be entitled to seven kilograms of foodgrains per person per month at the prices specified in Schedule I. 

Provided also that households covered under Antyodaya Anna Yojana shall be entitled to a maximum of 35 kilograms of foodgrains per household per month at the prices specified in Schedule I”
