The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), on June 22, 2026, notified the commencement of provisions of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 relating to the Oil Industry (Development) Act, 1974.
Through the notification, the Central Government appointed June 23, 2026, as the date on which the amendments specified against Serial Number 40 of the Schedule to the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026, and the corresponding entries relating to the Oil Industry (Development) Act, 1974, shall come into force.
Accordingly, the amendments introduced under the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2026 concerning the Oil Industry (Development) Act, 1974 became effective from June 23, 2026.
