The National Dental Commission (NDC) on June 24, 2026, issued revision in Guidelines for Conducting the Annual Anti-Ragging Orientation Program.
The directive refers to the earlier Dental Council of India (DCI) Regulations on curbing ragging in dental colleges (2009) and subsequent decisions mandating Anti-Ragging Orientation Programs at the start of each academic session, including participation of DCI members.
However, following the dissolution of the Dental Council of India with effect from March 19, 2026, the previous requirement to invite DCI or Ex-DCI Members to these orientation programs has been withdrawn. This clarification supersedes earlier instructions in this regard.
Despite this change, all dental colleges are still required to conduct Anti-Ragging Orientation Programs annually at the commencement of the BDS course to ensure awareness and strict compliance with anti-ragging measures. These programs must continue to play a key role in sensitizing students and preventing ragging incidents.
Institutions are directed to involve relevant stakeholders such as Anti-Ragging Committee members, students (both freshers and seniors), hostel wardens, parents/guardians, institutional counselors, local police authorities, and media representatives. Strict adherence to these revised guidelines is mandatory.
