Labour ComplianceThe Government of Nagaland, on June 04, 2026, issued the Draft Nagaland Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules, 2026.

The following has been stated:-

•The Nagaland Code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules, 2026 establishes that the rules extend across the entire state of Nagaland and come into effect immediately upon their official publication. 

•Key legal terminology is defined, including roles for the licensing authority, the Chief Inspector-cum-Facilitator, and the Registering Officer tasked with oversight. 

•It also establishes the Nagaland Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Board to advise the state government on safety standards and policy administration.

•Furthermore, hazardous substances are explicitly quantified by aligning them with existing national chemical management and storage regulations from 1989. 

•Lastly, the section specifies the financial criteria for family dependency, capping the monthly income threshold at five thousand rupees for availing medical benefits under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) scheme.

Any objections or suggestions may be submitted within 30 days.
