The Government of Maharashtra, on June 24, 2026, notified Maharashtra Unmanned Systems Policy 2026 – 2031.
The following has been stated:-
•Maharashtra Unmanned Systems Policy 2026–2031 aims to make Maharashtra the leading hub for unmanned systems through an integrated ecosystem covering R&D, innovation, manufacturing, deployment, and maintenance.
•The policy recognizes the growing role of aerial, land, and water-based unmanned systems in sectors such as infrastructure monitoring, agriculture, disaster management, public safety, logistics, and urban governance.
•It builds on national initiatives like the Drone Rules, 2021, PLI Scheme, National UTM Policy, and import restrictions to strengthen domestic manufacturing and adoption.
•Key targets include attracting ₹25,000 crore in investments, creating over 1 lakh jobs, establishing 3 Centres of Excellence, and training 5,000 remote pilots during the policy period.
•To achieve these goals, the State will establish the Maharashtra Unmanned Systems Mission to promote innovation, manufacturing, testing, certification, skilling, and responsible governance of unmanned systems.
