Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of External Affairs (MoEA) on June 25, 2026, issued the Passports (Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Passports Rules, 1980.

They shall come into force on July 01, 2026.

The following has been stated:

• The amendment substitutes Schedule IV, revising the fee structure for passports, travel documents and miscellaneous passport-related services in India and abroad. The revised schedule sets out updated fees for fresh passports, passport reissues, replacements for lost or damaged passports, emergency certificates, certificates of identity, and services such as Police Clearance Certificates (PCC), Surrender Certificates, and Global Entry Program verification.

• It also retains passport validity of 10 years for adults and 5 years or until the minor attains 18 years of age (whichever is earlier) for minors. 

• Additionally, the amendment continues to provide a 10% discount on passport fees for fresh applications by minors up to 8 years of age and senior citizens above 60 years.
