The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (MoCF), on June 25, 2026, issued an order amending the Linear Alkyl Benzene (Quality Control) Order, 2022 to extend the period of temporary suspension of its operation in view of prevailing global supply chain disruptions affecting the availability of Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB).
The Ministry stated that, after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), it had taken cognizance of the continuing global supply chain disruptions and considered it necessary in the public interest to ensure the uninterrupted availability of Linear Alkyl Benzene. Accordingly, the operation of the Linear Alkyl Benzene (Quality Control) Order, 2022 has been temporarily suspended for the period from July 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026.
The amendment has been issued in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 16 read with Section 25(3) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, substituting the proviso in paragraph 2 of the Linear Alkyl Benzene (Quality Control) Order, 2022 to give effect to the extended suspension period.
