Commercial ComplianceThe Government of Madhya Pradesh, on June 10, 2026, promulgated the Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Raj Avam Gram Swaraj (Sanshodhan) Adhyadesh, 2026 to amend the provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Raj Avam Gram Swaraj Adhiniyam, 1993, during the period the State Legislature is not in session. The ordinance has been issued under Article 213 of the Constitution of India.

The amendment modifies Section 75 of the principal Act, which deals with the levy of additional stamp duty. A new proviso has been inserted empowering the State Government to exempt, through a notification, any instrument from the additional stamp duty that is otherwise leviable under the section, over and above the duty imposed under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899.

The change provides the State Government with greater flexibility to grant targeted relief from additional stamp duty in specified cases through executive notifications. The ordinance remains effective during its period of operation and temporarily amends the 1993 Act accordingly.
