The Government of Chhattisgarh (General Administration Department), on June 11, 2026, amended the Chhattisgarh Government Business (Allocation) Rules to update the functions, statutory responsibilities, and institutional framework of the Commerce and Industry Department. Issued under Article 166 of the Constitution of India, the amendment revises the Schedule relating to matters of policy, administered laws, directorates, boards, and affiliated institutions under the Department.
The amendment broadens the Department’s policy mandate by substituting the existing entry relating to trade matters with “imports and exports” and removing certain earlier policy entries. It also updates the list of laws and rules administered by the Department, including the Chhattisgarh Society Registrikaran Adhiniyam, 1973, Chhattisgarh Audyogik Nivesh Protsahan Adhiniyam, 2002, Indian Partnership Act, 1932, Boilers Act, 2025, MSME Development Act, 2006, the Chhattisgarh Jan Vishwas Acts, industrial land management rules, state store purchase rules, industrial policy implementation rules, and departmental service recruitment rules.
Further, the notification redesignates the principal departmental office as the Directorate of Industries, Chhattisgarh, recognizes the State Investment Promotion Board under the category of boards and corporations established under Acts, and rationalizes the list of other institutions by deleting several entries while retaining the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation. The changes are intended to streamline administrative responsibilities, align departmental functions with recent legislative developments, and strengthen the governance framework for industrial development and investment promotion in the State.
