Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Chhattisgarh, on June 2026, enacted the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Act, 2026, to amend the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code, 1959. The Act came into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

The amendment revises the appellate authority provisions under Section 44(2) of the Code by substituting clause (a) with new clauses. Under the amended provisions, an appeal against an order passed by the Sub-Divisional Officer or the Deputy Survey Officer shall lie before the Collector, while an appeal against an order passed by the District Survey Officer shall lie before the prescribed appellate authority, as specified under the amended Section 44.

The amendment is intended to streamline the appellate mechanism under the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code, 1959 by clearly specifying the competent appellate authorities for orders issued by different revenue and survey officers, thereby facilitating more effective administration of land revenue matters.
