The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) on June 29, 2026, issued a notification regarding the release of National Ambulance Services Operational Guidelines 2026.
The following has been stated:-
•The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released the Operational Guidelines on National Ambulance Services (NAS), 2026, to standardise ambulance services across India.
•The guidelines prescribe uniform standards for ambulance categories, deployment, staffing, equipment, EMT training, vehicle maintenance, infection control, and grievance redressal.
•They promote GPS-enabled Integrated Command and Dispatch Centres, integration with emergency number 112, and GIS-based mapping for faster and more efficient patient transport.
•The framework aims to strengthen emergency healthcare delivery by improving ambulance response times, service quality, and coordination nationwide.
