The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPS&W) on June 25, 2026, issued a notification regarding the Compounding Procedure for Offences under the Indian Ports Act, 2025.
The following has been stated:-
•The Central Government has notified the application process, payment procedure, and compounding amount for eligible offences under Section 53A of the Indian Ports Act, 2025.
•Applications may be submitted physically to the conservator or electronically through the designated government portal, along with the required documents and proof of payment.
•The compounding amount will equal the prescribed fine for the offence, subject to the statutory ceiling, and repeat offences remain non-compoundable.
The notification will come into effect from July 01, 2026.
