The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on June 30, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Lending and Deposit Rates of Scheduled Commercial Banks – June 2026.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The weighted average lending rate (WALR) on fresh rupee loans increased slightly to 8.51% in May 2026, from 8.50% in April 2026.
• The WALR on outstanding rupee loans declined marginally to 8.97% in May 2026, from 8.98% in April 2026.
• The 1-year median MCLR of scheduled commercial banks fell to 8.50% in June 2026, from 8.65% in May 2026.
• Lending rates on fresh and outstanding rupee loans showed mixed trends across different sectors during May 2026.
• 67.6% of outstanding floating-rate rupee loans were linked to External Benchmark Based Lending Rate (EBLR) as of March 2026.
• The share of MCLR-linked loans declined to 30.2% at end-March 2026 from 32.0% at end-December 2025.
• The weighted average domestic term deposit rate (WADTDR) on fresh rupee term deposits rose to 5.84% in May 2026, from 5.79% in April 2026.
• The WADTDR on outstanding rupee term deposits eased to 6.57% in May 2026, from 6.59% in April 2026.
• Lending rates remained largely stable, with only marginal changes in fresh and outstanding loan rates.
• Fresh deposit rates increased slightly, while rates on outstanding deposits moderated, indicating mixed movements in deposit pricing.
