The National Dental Commission (NDC), on June 2026, issued a communication reiterating the mandatory biometric attendance requirement for Postgraduate (PG) Dental students in all dental colleges across the country. The direction has been issued in continuation of its earlier letter dated January 19, 2026, requiring institutions to ensure compliance with the minimum 80% biometric attendance prescribed under Regulation 18(a)(i) of the DCI MDS Course Regulations, 2017.
The Commission has directed all Universities and Dental Colleges to ensure that no PG student is permitted to appear in the University/PG examination if the student's biometric attendance is below 80%. Institutions have also been cautioned that they shall be held responsible for any non-compliance with the statutory directions issued by the National Dental Commission.
The circular reinforces institutional accountability for monitoring biometric attendance and ensuring adherence to the prescribed attendance requirements before permitting students to appear in postgraduate examinations.
